What is Hair Transplantation?

Hair transplantation is a surgical procedure that involvestransplanting hair follicles from one part of the scalp(the donor area) toanother part where hair is thinning or has been lost (the recipient area). Thisprocedure is primarily used to treat male pattern baldness, but it can also beused to restore hair in women and to fill in scars caused by injuries or surgeries.

During a hair transplant procedure, hair follicles are extractedfrom the donor area using either a strip harvesting method (follicular unittransplantation or FUT) or individual follicle extraction (follicular unitextraction or FUE). The extracted follicles are then transplanted into therecipient area, where they can grow and produce new hair.

 The procedure is typically done on an outpatientbasisunder local anesthesia and can take several hours to complete. Recoverytime varies depending on the individual and the method used, but most peoplecan return to work and normal activities within a week or two.
